Melbourne, Victoria | Alcidion Group Limited today announces the signing of a contract expansion with North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC) to deliver MediViewer as an expansion to the Miya Precision Electronic Patient Record (EPR) solution, giving clinicians seamless access to scanned and historical documents within their clinical workflows.
This contract expands Alcidion’s current engagement with NCIC which is to provide the Miya Precision EPR to the trust, enhancing digital maturity and supporting clinicians to deliver high quality, safe patient care. This new capability will streamline the digitisation of clinical workflows that NCIC are adopting through the use of Miya Precision, facilitating access to important patient information at point of care.
Mizaic’s MediViewer is an Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) which will digitise the trust’s paper patient health records, making them accessible directly in the Miya Precision EPR. This approach means all patient records will be accessible through a single user interface, reducing delays caused by paper-based processes.
The solution was chosen for its proven, healthcare-specific, intuitive design and strong clinical usability, offering enhanced user experience, intelligent indexing, and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology, helping clinicians locate the right documents quickly and with confidence.
MediViewer is already in use by more than 20 trusts including a number within the NHS North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board. The decision to implement the solution aligns NCIC with regional convergence across the ICB, enabling the clinical team’s visibility of scanned documents in neighbouring Trusts within the ICS. This enhanced information-sharing will enable a more coordinated healthcare journey for patients receiving care across multiple sites.
“We are pleased to be expanding our relationship with the team at Alcidion, introducing the additional modular capabilities provided through the Mizaic/Alcidion partnership. This partnership enables us to take advantage of the platform capabilities enabled through Miya Precision and create further positive impact for both clinical staff and patient outcomes” said Andy Laverick, Chief Information Officer & Director of Digital, NCIC. “Having access to historical patient records through a single clinical user interface will be a significant driver of efficiency.”
Alcidion Group Managing Director and CEO Kate Quirke said: “We continue to work closely with the team at NCIC to support the digitisation of clinical workflows, improving the clinical team’s access to information at the point of care. The implementation of MediViewer inside of the Miya Precision EPR provides the seamless user experience that has resulted in Miya Precision being recognised by the NHS for its exceptional usability. Importantly, the digitisation of patient health records lays the foundation for the adoption of emerging technologies including AI and predictive analytics.”
