We are pleased to announce Katy Cain has joined Alcidion as Clinical Consultant. A senior nurse with more than 20 years’ experience in the NHS, Katy has joined smart health tech provider Alcidion in a core role as a clinical consultant primarily working with the UK team.
Katy Cain joins Alcidion from East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, where she held a wide range of posts in clinical roles, most recently as a modern matron for the trust’s cardiology directorate.
Katy, who also actively supported the adoption of new technologies in her nursing positions, will maintain close relationships with clinicians in NHS hospitals, to ensure frontline requirements in the UK are proactively fed into Alcidion’s product roadmaps. She will also continue to cover shifts part-time as a nurse to support colleagues through the ongoing challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.
Commenting on her appointment, Katy said: “The modern technology that Alcidion is delivering to the NHS and the passion in the company for helping to improve patient care, turned my head. As a healthcare professional, I felt this was the first time I had seen technology that would make a big difference to clinicians and a tech company that really has clinicians at heart.
“Whether it is using clever technology so staff don’t need to continuously remember hundreds of things, or to free up clinical time at one of the most pressured moments in the history of the health service, by joining Alcidion I felt I could help to make a difference.
“Doctors and nurses no longer have time to work around technology not designed for their needs. I look forward to working with the Alcidion team in the UK and with colleagues globally, in a company that provides technology built for clinicians and that wants to listen to and respond to the challenges being faced.”
